Gregg Allman breaks at no.5 on the US billboard chart

Gregg Allman breaks at no.5 on the US billboard chart with his first solo album in 14 years.

The new album Low Country Blues is the highest charting album in his solo career so far.

Gregg was best known for co-Founding the Allman Brothers with his brother Duane Allman.

The brothers written such songs as Jessica which was featured on the opening of UK television show Top Gear.

After being diagnosed with hepatitis C in late 2007, Allman underwent liver transplant surgery in June last year.

Gregg said that the surgery was the worst thing that he had ever been through.

“It’s the roughest thing I’ve ever been through, I’ve been in military school, through six divorces, heh-heh — this is worse than all that.”

Through his years Gregg tried rehab 14 times, finally getting clean in the 1990s.

Although he has now been clean for some years Gregg claims that it was “was laying dormant for a while and just kind of crept up on me.”

Although Low Country Blues is Greggs first solo release since his 1997 album Searching for Simplicity the new album is made up mostly of cover versions.

Just Another Rider: The only track on the album which is not a cover version was co-written Warren Haynes.

The song is quite obviously a follow up to the 1972 Allman Brothers song Midnight Rider.
