Most people see Shrove Tuesday as an excuse to eat pancakes but there are also a number of reasons to celebrate March 8th.
Among these reasons a number of famous British musicians were born on this day.
March 8th sees in the 53rd birthday of synthpop legend Gary Numan.
Numan is considered one of the pioneers of commercial electronic music, Numan is widely known for his hits Are Friends Electric? with his band Tubeway Army and Cars which was his first solo effort.
Upon release in 1979 the single Cars reached number one in the UK and the song became a cult hit in the many years that followed.
The day also marks the birthday of musician Gaz Coombes, best known as the front man of British rock band Supergrass.
Supergrass, known for their iconic Britpop sound broke up in 2010 after 17 years.
Keane frontman Tom Chaplin turned 31 today. Keane saw mainstream success with their debut album Hopes and Fears which topped the UK album charts in 2004.
The album returned to the top of the charts in February 2005 after winning Best album at the BRIT awards.
Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr Celebrates his 54th Birthday today. Burr Played drums for Iron Maiden from 1980 to 1982.
He also recorded drums for three of Maidens most iconic albums: Number of the Beast, Killers and Iron Maiden (Self titled).
